John Fox Haag started drawing at four or five. In fourth grade he started painting. The room was set up with easels, paper on the easels, brushes, and paint at the ready. The paint was fresh and luscious and the moment he applied the first stroke, he knew that he was hooked. It was electric.

John received his BFA from University of Oregon and studied Graduate Communications Design at Pratt Institute. He started working immediately and made a living as a graphic designer for the better part of his adult life. Twenty-five years of design continues to serve him well. The formal aspects that he employed as a designer are the same principals that are at the foundation of his paintings. Organizing space, working with color, and playing with forms are at the core of what he does. He works primarily in oil and watercolor, enjoying each medium and their own particular challenges.

Since 2003 John has been showing his work in San Francisco, Palm Springs, Sacramento, and Santa Fe.
